Award
One (1) $1,500 scholarship will be awarded.
Eligibility
Must be a 2027 graduating high school senior with a 2.5 GPA or higher. Recipients must live in the Houston Metropolitan area — scholarships will not be awarded to students living in other states, cities, or regions.
Priority
Priority is given to students in the chapter's Brazoria County service area (Brazosport, Brazoswood, Angleton, Manvel, and Pearland High Schools), and to students who are members of historically underserved/under-represented/minority populations.
Legacy Applicants
Legacy students are children whose father or grandfather has been a financial member of the Rho Xi chapter for the previous two years at the time of application. Legacies must complete the full application process.
For a Legacy to be considered, the financial brother must contribute a minimum of $500 or equivalent to one Golf Team or the chapter's annual committed event (e.g., the Floral and Fedora event) per year. Any brother recommending a scholarship recipient must meet the same criteria. At least one reference letter must come from a current financial Rho Xi member meeting these criteria.
Essay
Evaluated by the education committee. Minimum 350 words, maximum 500 words.
Transcript
Evaluated on a 4.0 scale — transcripts on other scales must be converted.
References
Two letters of reference from non-relatives are required.
Selection
Application deadline is on or before April 1, 2027. The recipient is selected by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Rho Xi Chapter Scholarship Committee. A scholarship reception honoring recipients will occur in June.
Award Payment
Paid upon receipt of proof of registration documenting enrollment in a 2- or 4-year college or university.
